Info from Army Record: 10/12/1915 Hartley Owen Orchard was attested, 6/4/1916 mobilized in the Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry No. 36710, age 18 years, occupation Tailor, born Week St Mary, Cornwall. 5/9/1916 transferred to 8 Devonshire Regiment, No. 33378, 16/5/1917 transferred to MFP. 9/5/1917 serving with APM 13 (Plymouth) Area. 10/7/1916 joined BEF France, 8 Division. 15/12/1916 to 23/2/1917 he was in the Keighley War Hospital with trench feet. 7/4/1919 his father received the following property of his son: leather case containing nail file, scissors and small comb, wrist watch with cracked glass, watch strap, jack knife, fountain pen, boot laces, shaving mirror, belt with various badges, cigarettes in case, wound stripe, letters, blotting pad, two writing pads, note paper some addressed, cover of writing pad, note book, postcards, wallet, containing photos and snap shots, MFP & Devonshire Regt. cap badges, two discs attached to strap, religious charm. 3/2/1917 he received £2-06-08 1/4 and 4 x 1/1/2 stamps.
