From Police review 1916: L/Cpl John William Moulds has succumbed to a very severe attack of spotted fever. He was admitted into a Military Hospital at St Omer in France over seven weeks ago and hovered between life and death until last Friday when he quietly passed away. The deceased enlisted in the Military Foot police in October last and prior to that was a member of the Grantham Borough Police Force. Died, St Omer, Army Register of Soldiers' Effects, 1901-1929. Constables Moulds, Miles, Hallam, Bilton and Ranshaw, and on Monday they proceed to Aldershot to join their unit the Military Foot Police Extract from the Nottingham Evening Post, 13/3/16. Information has reached Grantham this morning of the death from spotted fever in hospital in France of L/Cpl William Moulds. The deceased enlisted in the Military Foot Police in October last and prior to this was a member of the Grantham Borough Police Force and was a popular officer, not only among his comrades but with the public in general. Extract from the Grantham Journal 18/3/16. Death of a Grantham Borough Police Constable. We regret this week to have to record the death of L/Cpl William Moulds a former member to the Grantham Borough Constabulary. The deceased like a number of other members of the force, enlisted in the Military Foot Police in October of last year and went to France in the early part of 1916. After being out there for sometime he contracted spotted fever and was removed to hospital, but unfortunately despite all the care and attendance he failed to recover. The news of his death we are sure will be received in Grantham with profound regret, especially amongst his former colleagues. L/Cpl Moulds joined the Grantham Borough Police Force on 28/2/14.
