Citation:   North West Europe. Citation for BEM: This NCO has been in charge of 152 Bde Provost Section for two years. He has invariably carried out all his duties in an exemplary manner. Frequently he has been asked to perform the most arduous tasks and has carried them out to perfection at all times, regardless of any danger to himself. During the RHINE crossing his main task was to establish a TCP at a cross-roads on the enemy side of the river. The TCP was established by 0700hrs on D Day and remained in operation for two days. During this period the cross-roads was under almost continuous and accurate enemy mortar and shellfire. Sgt Milne remained at this cross-roads during the whole period, ignoring danger to himself and ensuring that the cross-roads was kept clear of traffic the whole time. The latter meant his being above ground most ot the time and fully exposed to every danger. On innumerable occasions this NCO has carried out equally arduous tasks always with the same courage and determination and always to perfection. His conduct in and out of battle is always of the highest order and an excellent example to his men. Capt DAPM 51 (H) Div Pro Coy. AJH Cassels Brig Comd 152 Inf Bde. Maj Gen Comd 51 (H) Div.
