Formerly served in B 2 Coy. 2 Police Reserve, Leeds City Police. Attested 9/12/15, Army Reserve 10/12/15 to 10/12/16, Home 11/12/16 to 11/4/17, BEF 12/4/17 to 11/12/18 when he died in Cologne. 10/12/1918 he was accidentally shot by P/14442 L/Cpl Broom MFP who was cleaning his pistol in his barrack room when he shot L/Cpl Hutton in the stomach. He was taken to 87 Field Ambulance then 3 Canadian Field Hospital where he died from his injuries on the 11/12/1918. His army record contains notes from the board of enquiry. France (Germany) 27/10/1919 his widow Florence received £5-01-02 and 10/3/1920 a further £10-02-02 + £11-10-00 war gratuity with charge on W3094 of £1-05-10 20/21/5/1919. Info from Pension Index Card: Hutton, Walter Henry, MFP, No. P/5636, L/Cpl, Widow Florence Ethel Bywater, born 1881, children one, 1 Barberry Road, Cardigan. 7/7/1919 she received 13/9d + 6/8 child allowance = £1-06-08 then £1-06-08 + 10/- child allowance + £3-04-00.
