He was mobilized 5/8/1914, age 23.9 years, occupation van man and discharged 29/1/1914 served Home. 24/6/1916 called up, 10/10/1917 transferred to the Labour Corps No. 430161, 3/7/1918 transferred to MFP, 12/9/1918 died. 9/12/1915 he married Nellie Sutton, spinster at St Peters Church, Bristol, they had 2 x children Nora Mary born 4/8/1916 and Kathleen Nelly born 21/6/1918. 26/2/1919 his widow received the following property: 2 discs, letters, photographs, 1 pay book, 1 razor, 1 watch, chain and case, 1 metal cigarette case, 1 cap badge, 1 curl of hair, 1 testament.
There is a letter in his army record dated 1/1/1937 from Nellie Delaney, (presumed re married)57 Catherine Street, London SWI requesting a copy of his service as family rumours say that he never served abroad. A copy of his service record dated 11/2/1937 also in service record.
