LANCE CORPORAL ATHOL HARRIS News has just been received that Lance Corporal Athol Harris, Military Foot Police, son of the late Mr Thos. Harris and husband of Mrs Edith Harris of 190 Knutsford Road has died from pneumonia in the No. 5 General Hospital, Rouen, France. Lance Corporal Harris was educated at St James' School, Latchford and afterwards served an apprenticeship with his father as a whit-smith. On the outbreak of war he enlisted in the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers. He took part in the landing at Suvla Bay and during the severe weather which followed he had an attack of enteric fever and also lost three toes through frost bite. He was transferred to the MFP on discharge from hospital and served with this branch of the service in France for two years. He leaves a wife an one child.
