Notes:   MMP. Awarded the Victory and War Medals. First served abroad (1) France, 24/2/17 to 6/12/17. Formerly Pte. Army Service Corps. No.3391. He was born in Ilkeston and enlisted and resided in Leicester. He was formerly PC 48 Leicester Borough Police Force. He served with 59 Division in Ireland during the Easter rising. He transferred to the MMP in January 1917 prior to going to France. Wounded (gun shot wounds to thigh and wrist) on the 5/12/1917. He died the following day in 21 CCS from his wounds. (Info from Peter Spooner). Inscription on gravestone: thou will keep him in perfect peace. Enlisted 25/3/1915 served in 514 Coy. Army Service Corps, 59 (NM) Division, transferred to 2/8/Sherwood Foresters, March 1916 for duties as Garrison Military Police in St. Albans and later transferred to MMP in January 1917. His widow received the following property: Photos, pipe, watch & strap, knife, nail clippers, nail cleaner, 2 x stamps, match box cover, leather strap, purse, 2 x coins, pencils, writing material, handkerchief, case containing hair brush and comb, 2 knives, 1 housewife, 1 MMP badge, 1 pr titles, flask, holdall knife, fork spoon, tooth brush, razor, shaving soap.
