War Diary WO 171/786 247 Pro Coy. 20/5/45 L/Cpl Winship found dead in roadway having died from multiple injuries sustained through being knocked down or thrown from an American lorry. Enquiries initiated to trace perpetrator. 7/6/45 all cash the property of L/Cpl Winship (deceased) formerly NCO of this company handed over to the DPM for the necessary disposal. Personal letter sent to his wife and a cheque to the value of £25 as a result of voluntary subscription within the unit.
