WO 169/13258. 2/3/43 Sgt Fensom reported at 10.00 hrs that an explosion occurred in his camp compound at 219 FMC when Cpl Winrow, L/Cpl's Miller, Ransom and Ely were burning rubbish. L/Cpl Ransom suffered injuries and died shortly afterwards. Cpl Winrow and L/Cpl Miller received injuries and were evacuated to 12 LFA. L/Cpl Ely sustained minor injuries and resumed duties. A Branch, 10 Corps Rear notified immediately and an explosives officer visited the scene. L/Cpl Ransom buried at Benghazi Military Cemetery, L/Cpl's Winrow and Miller evacuated to Delta Hospital. Inscription on gravestone: In memory of a grand husband and father, sadly missed by Jane and Michael. William Ransom.
