Falconara, 4/4/45, No.5494065 L/Cpl Lewis S G shot on duty whilst inspecting a truck suspected of carrying stolen WD petrol. L/Cpl Lewis died from his wounds on 13/4/45 in 1 (NZ) General Hospital. Part I Order, No.27 12/5/45, Welfare, the sum of £85.10.00 has been forwarded to Mrs S G Lewis, wife of 5394065 L/Cpl Lewis S G. This was the total sum raided by the whole unit. Part I Order, No. 29, 5/6/45, No.69 Welfare, A letter of thanks has been received from Mrs S G Lewis wife of No. 5394064 L/Cpl S G Lewis for the letter of sympathy from Maj J S Potts on behalf of the company and also for the sum of £85.10.00 which was subscribed by the entire company.
