He was born in Gateshead and resided in Dumbarton. He was killed on the way to the river at Arnhem (Pegasus Patrol, page 134. The following was taken from an interview with L/Cpl Breen, CMP by the author of Pegasus Patrol: L/Cpl Jones and I got across the road because we accidentally fell into a dug out while the German Very lights were up. We did not get much further when I think it was a German grenade exploded. I got the blast in the face and L/Cpl Jones was injured very badly. He was so bad he was shouting for the Germans to come and finish him off. He soon died. No inscription on gravestone. Casualty List 1579, 1 Airborne Div Pro Coy, missing believed POW, 25/9/1944. Killed in Action. Peter Watson Jones.
