He was born in Yorkshire and resided in Leeds. 4 Div Pro Coy War Diary, WO 170/424. 12/11/44 Forlinpopoli at dusk while out on a signing job Cpl Jackson was killed outright by a shell which hit his jeep. L/Cpl Townley who was not in the jeep at the time escaped with severe wounds to his thigh and legs. Casualty List 1615, Italy, Killed in Action, 12/11/1944. Inscription on gravestone: May you rest in peace dear, you gave your life as a hero, your wife Grace.
