Mrs E Marlow of 60, Oxford Street, East Kirby, has received news that her brother L/Cpl Joseph Hedley Carter Hawkins, who resided with her, has been killed in action in Western Europe. Aged 37, deceased, prior to the war was engaged as a building contractor, being in partnership with Mr C Gilbert. He was a regular player at Coxmoor Golf Club. He was in the Corps of Military Police and went to France on D Day.
