Police Constable Robert Curry was born on 29/9/1911 in Trimdon Grange in Durham. After service in the army from 12/6/1928 to 17/5/1935 he was employed as a male nurse at Serveralls Mental hospital, Colchester.. On 5/2/1936 he was accepted by Essex County Constabulary and , having completed training at HQ, he was posted to Brentwood fom 21/3/1936. he subsequently saw service at Hadleigh from 5/9/1936, Canvey island from 5/4/1937 and Great Waltham from 5/12/1938. Three weeks later he married Muriel Vera M. Curry of Leigh on Sea. Robert was recalled to the army on 1/12/1939. Police Constable 586, serial No. 3469.
