Citation:   For Gallant & Distinguished Service, Palestine, No. 6979148 Fusilier Peter Coleman, 2 Bn, Royal Irish Fusiliers, (Princess Victoria's). Citation: British Forces Palestine - Trans Jordan. 2 Battalion Royal Irish Fusiliers, 18 Infantry Brigade. On the morning of the 25th November 1938, when a column of the 2 Battalion, The Royal Irish Fusiliers, encountered a gang of from 15 to 20 bandits in the hills near AMQA, Fusilier COLEMAN was one of a handful of men who dashed forward at once with Lieutenant MORRIS to get to close quarters with the band. When a party of enemy attempted to break back through them to the cover of a wadi, Fusilier COLEMAN engaged them at close quarters and by his coolness and determination prevented them doing so, himself killing three of the enemy. Recommended for the Military Medal by the Commander 16th Infantry Brigade and Lt/Gen. GOC, British forces in Palestine & Trans-Jordan.
