10/7/1943 at about 15.00 hrs during heavy aerial bombardment, Sgt Shuttler and L/Cpl Borgino were killed and L/Cpl's Smith P, Wyatt, Sidebottom A, Winton G, Stenson P and Townely F were wounded and moved to hospital. All these NCO's were of the beach section. No trace found of Sgt Shuttler and L/Cpl Borgino. The complete kits of these NCO's were lost also Thompson SMG's serial No's S/513244, S/52551, S/503169 and pistol No. 504569. Later entry - the bodies of Sgt Shuttler and L/Cpl Borgino were dug up and buried at map reference 066183 Avola Edition III. His name is spelt Borgind in Army Roll of Honour.
Inscription on gravestone: Their Glory shall not be blotted out.
Killed on George Beach Nr. Cassible and buried there, grave now lost. Died with Sgt Shuttler of same unit.
