Citation:   North West Europe. MBE citation: RSM WAKEFIELD has performed his duties exceptionally well since landing in NORMANDY in June 1944. His personal smartness, keeness and energy have been a spendid example to the Provost Company, who have greatly benefited therefrom. During the difficult times of the crossing of the river ORNE, RSM WAKEFIELD visited his MP posts continually and, by his coolness and cheerfulness, encouraged his NCO's, who were under sporadic shell fire a good deal of the time. On many occasions when the officers have been away from Coy HQ, he himself has taken decisions and carried out difficult tasks most thoroughly. By his splendid example of keeness and enthusiasm, he has done more than his share in making 110 Provost Coy and extremelty efficient unit. From June till December RSM WAKEFIELD has never spared himself, and has set an unusually high standard for smartness, efficiency and hard work. Lt-Col APM 8 Corps. Lt-Gen Comd. 8 Corps.
