Mrs Dowber of Deeplish Hill Lodge, 37 Phillips Street, has been officially notified that her husband, Lance Corporal John Dowber, has been killed in action in the West European Theatre of war. Lance Corporal Dowber who was thirty one years of age, joined the Army four and a half years ago and until recently was serving with the Corps of Military Police, Traffic Control. At the time of his death he was in the provost section, Welch Regiment. He was the youngest son of Mr and the late Mrs Joseph Dowber of Norden, and two of his brothers are serving in the RAF abroad.
