Banbury's Mace Bearer and town Hall Keeper, Mr Ronald Pote, of 2 The Fairway, was among old comrades of the Coldstream Guards who watched HM the King present new colours to the Regiment on the occasion of the tercentenary of the raising of the Regiment at the horse Guards Parade on Wednesday. Mr Pote who was a Guardsman from 1934 to 1940, served in the short space of six years performed almost every public duty as a guardman whilst in the second Battalion of the Coldstreams. Mr Pote left the Guards to join the Corps of Military Police as was mentioned in despatches whilst serving in Burma (not found in London Gazette). His is now a P?O in 1460 Squadron, ATC.
