Sir Ian Hamilton, in an order to the Southern Command has noted the conduct of Corpl. Trent, Military Police, and a picket of the 1st Cameron Highlanders, under Corpl. Ross, in respect to a serious fire at Shipton Bellinger last Friday. He says that it seems clear that but for the prompt action of Corp. Trent in galloping back to barracks immediately the fire was discovered, and the energetic action of the Cameron picket, which doubled the whole way from Tidworth Barracks to Shipton Belllinger with the fire engine, a large portion of the village must have been destroyed.
