Citation:   17456 Sjt T Whitton, MGC (Edinburgh). For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. During the operations he did consistently fine work as section serjeant. On one occasion, when his officer had become a casualty, he reorganised the remains of his section and mounted two guns for the defence of the line, displaying remarkable coolness and skill. |
