Citation:   Citation: 5432 Sjt J Shimmings, C. Gds. (Holsworthy, Devon). For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. When his company was employed on work in the trench system during a period of exceptionally heavy hostile shelling, he walked up and down encouraging the men to continue the work, and example which had the desired effect. He has always proved himself to be most cool and resourceful, and is a disciplinarian of the highest order. |
