Served Home 28/2/1900 to 2/3/1901, South Africa 3/3/1902 to 18/11/19803, Home 19/11/1903 to 17/4/1904, Egypt 18/10/1904 to 25/10/1912. 23/10/1912 Alexandria charged with being absent from parade for duty from 6 pm till found asleep in a shed at 6.50 pm, Reprimanded. Alexandria 25/10/1912 he died from bullet wound in head (suicide). Letter to PM Aldershot dated 27/10/1912. I regret to report to you that No. 584 L/Cpl. Phillips Mil. Mtd. Police was found dead on the morning of the 28th instant at Alexandria as the result of a bullet wound through the head. An inquest was held by the British Consul General, and his verdict was "Suicide whilst temporarily insane". The documents will be forwarded to you by the next mail leaving for England. These is also a copy of the letter to his father informing him of his son's death. He was born at Dalmeny, Midlothian, enlisted 28/2/00, occupation Valet. He has the same No. as L/Cpl W Worth, MFP.
