Citation:   Territorial Army. Queen's Birthday Award. Captain Gordon Sydney Pearson Stead (444350) Corps of Royal Military Police, 42 Div/Dist. Pro Coy, RMP. Territorial Army. Citation: Captain STEAD joined the Army in 1936 and his outstanding ability and devotion to duty quickly earned him promotion. He transferred to the CMP in 1938. He later saw active service in both World War II and KOREA when his personal example and leadership was of the highest order. In 1958 he became the PSO fo 42 Division Provost Company since when his high standards of devotion to duty have been reflected in every activity of the unit. He is a tremendously popular man yet one to be feared by the idle and incompetent. He is intensely loyal to his unit and its members and never spares himself in his efforts on their behalf. Indeed his devotion to duty and reliability far exceed that which is required or expected of him by regulations, and he and the unit he serves have become a byword throughout the 42nd Division. He identifies himself very closely with the units in the Division and District and plays a most important part in coordinating their Provost arrangements. Without doubt Captain STEAD is an outstanding example to inspiration to all who work with him and know him. His long and devoted service well merits recognition and I strongly recommend that he be awarded the MBE. Reccomended by: Lt/Col. PRH Turner, AA & QMG 42 (Lancashire) Div/District TA. GOC Western Command. t
