Citation:   Extract from Fifth Army Routine Orders dated 16/8/1917. 1352 Gallant Conduct. The Army Commander wishes to express his appreciation of the following act of courage on the part of No. 6055 L/Cpl Park, MFP, Traffic Control, under the following circumstances: At about noon on the 30th July 1917, whilst on duty at Lille Gate, Ypres, L/Cpl Park observed a team of five horses attached to an ammunition limber, bolting towards his post. There were no drivers with the team. He immediately ran out and with considerable difficulty succeeded in bringing the horses to a standstill. The presence of mind and courage displayed by L/Cpl Park undoubtedly avoided a serious accident from occurring in the town, towards which the horses were bolting. A record of the above will be made on the Regimental Conduct Sheet of L/cpl Park in accordance with King's Regulations para 1919 (xiv).
