Citation:   New Year Honours. 23920728 Staff Sergeant Keith Yallop, RMPTC, RMP. Senior NCO Audio Visual Air Wing. From 9 February to present. Citation: Staff Sergeant Yallop has been employed in the Audio Visual Aids Wing of the Royal Military Police Training centre since 1973, and has been involved with the use of Closed Circuit Television as an aid to training since its inception here. When he started there was no user experience of such equipment in a Police training environment, no trained operator expertise and not studio facilities. A radio and television engineer by trade Staff Sergeant Yallop easily mastered the basic technicalities of the highly complex equipment, and has subsequently spent much of his own time and money in retraining and updating himself. With enormous drive and determination Staff Sergeant Yallop, often without an officer or Warrant Officer directly in charge of him, and often in the face of ignorance and apathy, has established an eminently functional and professional studio and a widely acclaimed library of pore-recorded video tapes on all aspects of Military Police Training. Recently he installed, single handed, a closed circuit television system in the Static Police Training facility. This system permits one instructor, operating from a central console, to monitor the progress of a number of students in assimilating instruction in a practical environment. His ambition to institute a course of instruction to train Military Policemen to use Closed Circuit Television equipment in an operational environment has been realised. His reputation with other military training organisations and the Sussex Police Training School is outstanding. His knowledge and ability in this field are respected, admired and widely acclaimed. His achievements are unquestionably outstanding and are particularly notable in that many were achieved while he was a Sergeant. Although now a promoted Staff Sergeant his single minded devotion to this specialisation has undoubtedly denied him the earlier promotion to this rank which he would reasonably have expected had he been serving in a Provost Company. he has done more than any Staff Sergeant could have been expected to do and certainly infinitely more than his duty required.
