On Thursday the Essex Constabulary notified the following promotion:- Police Sergeant Whiting, of Epping, to be Inspector, and to remain at Epping. Inspector Ernest Whiting has been at Epping since 1925. He joined the Essex Constabulary in July, 1913, at Chelmsford and served at Hatfield Peverel, Clacton and headquarters at Chelmsford. From there he joined the Army and served for three years in the Military Foot Police in France and was discharged in October 1919 with the rank of Sergeant. He rejoined the Police and was stationed at Witham and subsequently at Chelmsford as Clerk for five years, when he was promoted sergeant and removed to Epping.
