Citation:   Queen's Birthday Honours. Citation for BEM, Chilwell, 1 March 52 to 31 Dec 54. During the period of his appointment as Company Sergeant Major of 152 Provost Company, Royal Military Police, the work of this Acting Warrant Officer II has been outstanding in merit and an inspiring example to all ranks. He ha frequently been called upon to perform duties normally undertaken by commissioned officers and he has performed these superior duties in a highly capable manner. On account of his exceptionable ability he was especially detailed as W.O i/c Traffic Control at Yeadon Air Display in 1953 and 1954, and the Northern Command Tattoo in 1954. The outstanding manner in which he carried out his duties on these public occasions contributed a great deal to their success. In his normal duties he has shown skill and initiative of a high order and the merit of his performance has been of inestimable benefit to the reputation of the Royal Military Police.
