Citation:   Malaya. Singapore. Citation for MBE: 1/1/53 - 30/6/53. Capt VERLIN has been 2 IC of 200 Provost Coy (RMP) since November 1951. During this period three Commanding Officers have succeeded one another with an interregnum of up to a month between them. On Capt VERLIN therefore has rested to a great extent the onus of keeping up the standard of the Unit, which has been and is extremely high. In the circumstances, it is fair to say that had it not been for his example, enthusiasm, determination and cheerfulness the Unit - nearly always understrength - and the ideals of the Corps he is serving could not have been maintained. During the past eighteen months, in addition to routine duties, on Capt VERLIN has fallen a greater part of the Provost duties for the military Ceremonials in the Colony in connection with the Queen's Birthday Parade 1952, the visit of Her Royal Highness The Duchess of KENT IN 1952, and the Coronation and Queen's Birthday Parade in 1953. The Company has tackled all these problems with notable success, a success to which Capt VERLIN's personal example has undoubtedly contributed. Brig E J Montgomery IC Adm Singapore Base District.
