Division, 31/7/17 Shrapnel wound to left leg severe, evacuated to UK. A letter in his Army Records from GHQ Records BEF dated 10/6/19 reads: Reference attached AFB 103 for No.P/1866 L/Cpl A Townsend, MMP will you please cause the entry of the award of the Croix de Guerre (French) to be deleted and returned as early as possible. The matter has been referred to War Office who state that there is no trace of the award and that the London Gazette dated 7/2/19 did not refer to foreign Decorations.
