He served under an assumed name of F Taylor. Served Home 24/11/13 to 9/9/14, Egypt 10/9/14 to 22/2/17, France 23/2/17 to 22/5/19, Home 23/5/19 to 20/6/19, Disembodied 20/6/19. Transferred to MMP 1/5/17. Served in Gallipoli and with 42 and 56 Division in France. A letter in his army record states: I would be much obliged if you could forward on my 1914-15 Star which I have not yet received. I joined the 1/5 Lancashire Fusiliers in Nov. 1913 and went out to Egypt with them in Sept 1914. I went through Gallipoli, and France. I transferred to the Mil. Mtd. Police May 1st 1917 in France. My No. was 1520 with the Lanc's and P/10742 with the Mil. Mtd. Police. I should like to draw your attention to the fact that I served through the war in an assumed name of (F Taylor) but got back to my true name of ( Frederick James Thorne) before I left France for demobilization at the 1st Army HQ, France.
