Attested 9/12/15, Army Reserve 10/12/15 to 22/5/16, Home 23/5/16 to 14/7/16, BEF 15/7/16 to 8/10/19, Home 9/10/19 to 6/11/19, class Z reserve 7/11/19. 16/7/16 Rouen, 8/9/16 4 Army, 20 Division, 10/8/19 Amiens, 23 Railhead Supply Detachment. There are a number of documents in his army record ordering him to pay maintenance to Rosa Stiff, 55 Melford Road, Sudbury for an illegitimate child, born 21/12/1906. Ordered to pay 1/6 per week from 27/208 till the child attain the age of 13 years or shall die, also 4/- costs. An army form B. 262 Order of Stoppage of Pay dated 6/8/16 also found which states: to be placed under a stoppage of pay at the rate of 3 pence per day from the date of this order for the support of his illegitimate child. When all the arrears which have accrued under the magistrates' order have been paid off, the stoppage of pay, if in excess of the amount ordered to be paid by the magistrates, will be reduced to the amount of their order.
