On the outbreak of war Colour Sergeant P. McCaffery, who was then serving in the Eastern Division, City of Glasgow Police, volunteered as drill instructor, and was passed for duty to Hamilton. Later he assisted in the formation and training of the 18th (R) Bn. Since then he has transferred to the Corps of Military Police, in which department he has gained the rank of Colour Sergeant for his good services and devotion to duty. Colour Sergeant McCaffery has seen previous active service, having served in the Tirah Expedition, India 1897 and 1898 and in the South African War.
