VV50.1296, received 16/5/18. Thomas Oldcorn. Police Review 26/6/42: Supt. T Oldcorn, DCM (Cumberland and Westmorland) Supt. Oldcorn who has been awarded the King's Police Medal, is chief clerk at the headquarters of the Cumberland and Westmorland Constabulary. He fought in the Boer War, being decorated with the DCM, and in 1904 joined the Police, being promoted Sergeant in 1909, and Inspector in 1922. From 1915 to 1918 he served in the Military Mounted Police and on returning to Police duty was appointed Superintendent and Chef Clerk in 1919. Info from Pension Index Card:- Oldcorn, Thomas, Sgt. Penrith, late of the Military Mounted Police in France, has this week been awarded the Meritorious Service Medal in recognition of valuable services rendered with the forces. Sergeant Oldcorn, who has been discharged medically unfit, will shortly resume his duties as Inspector at the Police Headquarters at Penrith.
